“I’m going to miss granny Ruth a lot! It hurts so much to know that I won’t be able to visit her again!” Pepe was crying in his room. His grandmother had just died.
“Will I ever see her again?” Besides his sadness, this scary thought came over him.
Then, Pepe remembered how his grandmother told him that the Bible says that we’ll never die. That God loves us so much He came down to earth so that we can live with Him always. He also recalled the expression that his grandmother always used to say: “The Bible is the word of God and His word is always true.”
Pepe instantly knew in his heart that his grandmother was in Heaven. But, where is Heaven? Could it be in the sky? Could he at least get a glimpse of her or of other people living there? He ran out into the yard and started looking up to the sky.
Katie, his neighbor and friend, was playing outside and ran over to see what Pepe was looking at. “What are you doing? Why are you looking up like that?” she asked.
“I’m trying to look for grandma, or other people in Heaven. Maybe, if I look hard enough, I’ll be able to see their feet,” Pepe answered staring intently up to the sky.
“Oooh, how interesting! I’ll help you!” Katie joined the search.
Pepe and Katie were so focused that they didn’t notice the Three Musketeers watching with so much joy and tenderness. Finally Jesus interrupted them, “Ahem, ahem…hello, kids! Why are you looking up in the sky?”
Pepe and Katie jumped with excitement when they saw the Musketeers. Katie was the first one to speak, “We’re looking for granny Ruth’s feet, or other people’s feet who are living in Heaven with you up there!”
The Three Musketeers laughed and the children could feel their love.
Pepe now realized the answer to his scary thought, “So, it’s thanks to Jesus that I’ll be able to see granny Ruth again, right?”
The Father replied, “Yes, I gave my only Son ‘so that everyone who has faith in Him will have eternal life and never really die.’”
“And I willingly came to earth because I love you all so much!” Jesus added with a big smile.
“Even though you died painfully on a cross for our sins,” Pepe became sad.
“True, but I resurrected and here I am!” Jesus exclaimed, and Pepe could see a lot of love in his eyes.
“Yeah, that’s so cool!” the kids responded in unison.
“I misbehave quite often,” Pepe said looking at the ground, “but I do love you too, and I want to be with you in Heaven someday!”
“Well,” the Holy Spirit spoke, “since you love us so much, you want to try to be more like Jesus, right?”
“I also love Jesus very much,” Katie said emphatically, “but, how do I know what’s good or bad behavior?”
“In the Bible we give you the answers,” the Father told her, “and the Holy Spirit will remind you if you’ll listen for him.”
“Besides, there’s always our grace because you can’t be perfect,” the Holy Spirit added.
“When am I going to Heaven?” Pepe abruptly asked.
Jesus immediately responded, “You’re already part of my family and Kingdom because you love me, follow me, and obey me.” Then He paused and with excitement in His eyes added, “And one day Heaven and Earth will be one!”
“Nice! But for now, can you please tell me about granny Ruth?” Pepe whined.
“Don’t worry, Pepe…she’s fine and she’s with us!” The Three Musketeers replied as they disappeared from view. Poof!
“Oh no! I forgot to ask them exactly where Heaven is now,” Pepe was annoyed with himself.
“I guess we’ll find out someday,” Katie winked at him and gave him a big smile.
